Ascension Part XI: Discovering Others

The water felt good when Myra dived into the pool to start her warm up. Like she was being welcomed into a safe place, embraced by something simple, warm, and loving. She emerged from the water at the opposite end of the pool when she heard something and looked up. A camera at the upper left-hand corner of room was moving. She waved at the camera and gave it a brief smile. Wyatt was checking up on her. It was a kind gesture considering he had retired to the guest house with the most intense headache she had ever seen. Once things calmed down Wyatt needed to see a doctor. No one should be in the type of pain he had been experiencing recently. She wanted to call a doctor today but once again Wyatt refused. She was too scared of the virus to push the issue. Afraid he would contract it and she would lose him. He had been keeping too much from her but he also was the only piece she had left of her world before the pandemic. She was not ready to give that up. They had been friends for too long.

Myra turned and plunged back into the water. She began her laps. Starting out with a Freestyle stroke and quickly becoming bored, she switched to her favorite Individual Medley.

She found herself concentrating closely on her workout, it kept her in the present moment. Something which was more and more difficult to do with each passing day. The world was abuzz with people speculating on current events, sharing information as well as misinformation, and speaking conflicting truths. Fear and chaos quickly building into random outbursts of panic. It was like the planet was an overcrowded theater and some idiot had just screamed “Fire.” Except in this case there was a fire...somewhere. Myra could not distinguish its proximity nor the depth of it for all the smoke and people moving in every direction.

Not now. This present moment was hers. She was going to keep it. She hoped if she focused on something else for a while a solution to her difficulties with Wyatt would present itself. Myra slowed at the end of the pool, doing a 360 degree turn, she kicked off the pool wall, flipped on to her belly and went back the way she came.

Wyatt monitored Myra’s workout as he continued his search for more detailed information. He needed to know what might be on the verge of manifesting now that he was a Hybrid. He watched Myra execute a flawless flip turn and begin another lap.

The full disclosure request she had made earlier in the day was not unreasonable given recent events. Inconvenient but not unreasonable. She was taking extra laps. It seemed they were both equally uncomfortable with the entire situation.

Wyatt blinked. His world darkened as all three eyes closed. The computer screen returned to view as they opened. Wyatt sighed momentarily. It was time to get back to work. He perused news sites, government agencies, scientific journals, even delving into the world of the Knoblickers for a time. They all had the same information. Hybrids whose third eyelid coming in resulted in a sudden loss of consciousness were found to have stronger powers than other Hybrids, it was never specified what those powers might be.

Wyatt decided it was best to take a step back and break what he discovered down to the simplest form possible. Opening another window, he began typing a list.

The Third Eye Can:

See the future.

Communicate with nature.

See the origin and history of the alien beings the Hybrid is now connected to.

Look at someone and understand everything about them from their thoughts and history all the way down to a molecular level.

Can control the elements.

Can use the third eye as a weapon (some sort of laser beam). I doubt that.

Can control the elements.

Can lift heavy objects just by looking at them. False.

Can tell by looking at a human which is the tastiest morsel. We aren’t cannibals. Wyatt thought rolling his eyes.

Can levitate cows and milk them, causing it to rain milk over fields of orphaned children. Who came up with that one?

Can mind meld with zombies. These Hybrids plan to take over the world making all non-hybrid humans sex slaves for the new species. Someone must have been smoking something when they came up with that one.

Wyatt checked the pool house monitor again. Myra was standing outside the pool, wrapping a towel around herself. He watched as she left the area, entering the changing rooms. She would be in there at least thirty minutes. He had thirty minutes to figure out what to do next.

He was preparing to click on a link to a Hybrid Hater group when he noticed something odd about the link. He saw something above it. Click for GRWEB. “What?” He muttered. Wyatt moved the cursor away from the link then pointed to it again, seeing the same message. “I don’t know about this.”

A notification popped up. A new message in his private email. The message was brief. Only a few words.

Click the link Mon Ami. – Jcq

Jacques?” Wyatt whispered. He clicked the link and his screen went black. Seconds later green letters rained down the screen in front of him. He clicked when he found the word GRWEB.

 A box popped up.

Connection Secure In :

A video box opened. Another Hybrid looked at him. The stranger had a tiny tuft of bright red hair, three large blue eyes and a friendly smile. “Hello.” The man said.

Um...hello?” Wyatt responded.

Welcome to the Green Web. The Green Web is every Hybrid’s source of information for adjusting to their new form outside of captivity. My name is Abraham. What’s yours?”

Wyatt.”

Wyatt. Nice to meet you Wyatt.”

Another Hybrid walked up behind Abraham. Peering at the screen, he stepped back and called out, “It’s a Viewer. We have another Viewer!” The Hybrid stepped forward and patted Abraham’s shoulder, “That’s two this week. Nice work.”

Wyatt swallowed.
